Does the BodyGuard really work?

Answer: Yes, during a seven year trial the BodyGuard was applied to many cases of varying causes of death. Especially trauma, tissue and long bone donation, skin slip and more. These cases were from a trade company owned by Ron Gresham, the inventor of the BodyGuard. Of these cases, the BodyGuard performed admirably. The client funeral homes praised the performance of the BodyGuard and ease dressing of the body

How do you go about putting a BodyGuard on a decedent?

Answer: The BodyGuard is not unlike traditional unional plastic garments in that it is placed on the body the same way. The difference is in the taping, tucking and heating to shrink the material to the body. Manufactures note: DO NOT APPLY HEAT TO THE TAPE PROVIDED. IT WILL DISINTEGRATE. Avoid the tape with in the heating process, it will function as needed without heat.

How many people are required to put a BodyGuard on a decedent?

Answer: Usually just one person is required. In every case during our seven year trial each was BodyGuard was put the on bodies by just one person. In cases of a very large body one might want to recruit another person to help just for assurance.

How long does the process take?

Answer: The first time a funeral director employs the BodyGuard will take a little extra time. Reading and following the instructions provided will aid in the application of the BodyGuard. Every time one uses the BodyGuard the time to apply it will decrease. The usual time required for the application of the BodyGuard on to the body and ready to dress is about 35 minutes.

Does the heat affect the body?

Answer: No. During our trial a BodyGuard was applied to a body and as an afterthought it was removed to see just what the affect was to the underlying tissues. We were delighted to see that there was no trace of heat application. Not even a hair was damaged. The amount of time heat applied to a specific area is only a couple of seconds so it doesn’t have the time required to do any damage.

Can the BodyGuard be Cremated?

Answer: Yes, the BodyGuard will not affect the cremation process. Also, the amount of contaminants released into the air is about the same or less than that of a normal body pouch.

Can I respirate after applying a BodyGuard to a decedent?

Answer: Yes, you can actually penetrate the Polyethene material with a trocar, insert a trocar button and seal the material with our patch kit or simply use a square piece of tape. A repair kit is provided to the customer at no extra cost.
